Running the LonWorks Interfaces RNI test gave me Error 14. What is wrong? (KB521)

Question Detail

When I tested my i.LON connectivity, I got the following: ERROR: Failed to establish xDriver connection with device! (Error: 14 : Read Failed)

Solution

When using the LonWorks Interfaces >> RNI tab to test the connectivity to your i.LON 100 or i.LON 10, you might receive the following results:.

Windows Sockets API:	WinSock 2.0 (Running)
xDriver Remote Network Interface:	X.Default.ilon100_86
Target Device IP Hostname:	10.3.0.86
Target Device IP Address:	10.3.0.86
Target Device TCP Port:	1628
Testing connectivity to host device:
	Ping #1:	1ms
	Ping #2:	1ms
	Ping #3:	0ms
	Ping #4:	0ms
	Average Round-Trip Time:	0ms
xDriver Version:	3.22.002
Attempting to establish xDriver connection with device...
ERROR: Failed to establish xDriver connection with device! (Error: 14 : Read Failed)
FAILURE: xDriver diagnostics test failed.

This error can occur when an authentication-setting mismatch exists between the i.LON and your PC's RNI configuration. Double check the i.LON's configuration from its webpage and Windows Control Panel applet "LonWorks Interfaces" >> "RNI" >> Select this network interface's "Properties" >> "RNI Device ..."  window, and make sure they match.
