What restrictions are there if the i.LON Configuration Server is on a PC with an LNS IP Interface Device as defined by the LNS IP Configuration Utility? (KB146)

Question Detail
Does the Configuration Server and LNS IP Interface Device must have different IP port numbers when it runs on the same PC as LNS?

Solution
The i.LON 1000/600 Internet Server's Configuration Server can run on the same PC as LNS or it can run on a different PC. When it runs on the same PC as LNS, the Configuration Server and LNS IP Interface Device must have different IP port numbers.

Port conflicts between the LNS IP Interface Device and the Configuration Server cannot always be automatically detected, especially when channels and devices are defined before the VniServer is loaded. When a port conflict is detected the error reported is not always correct. To fix this, go to the i.LON Configuration Server and check the IP and port numbers of the configuration server and each LNS IP Interface Device defined on the PC.
