Question Detail
I installed NodeBuilder FX on a Windows 7, 64-bit PC, but I can not run the Hardware Template Editor.
You may see a similar error message:
Error reading xml file C:\Lonworks\NodeBuilder\Templates\Hardware\NBPlatforms.xml
Solution
This workaround is only used for NodeBuilder FX. IzoT NodeBuilder runs on a 64-bit Windows without any workaround.
1. Install the NodeBuilder software as described in the NodeBuilder documentation.
2. Either update the U10/U20 driver by running Windows update, or install OpenLDV 4.0 from here:
3. Save and unzip the registry update file NodeBuilderFix.zip.
4. Double click NodeBuilderFix.reg. This will copy its contents to the Windows registry.
5. Click the Start icon, and type regedit in the Search Program and Files box, and then press Enter.
6. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LonWorks.
7. If the LonWorks Path value is C:\Program Files (x86)\LonWorks, skip the rest of the steps.
8. Double-click the LonWorks Path value.
9. Right-click the Value Data box and then click Copy.
10. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LonWorks.
11. Double-click the LonWorks Path value.
12. Right-click the Value Data box and then click Paste.
13. Click OK.
14. Close the Registry Editor.
15. The NodeBuilder software can now be used as described in the NodeBuilder documentation.
Following is the content of the registry update file for your information:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LonWorks]
"LonWorks Path"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\LonWorks"
