OpenLNS CT can not open projects with special characters in their names (KB1034)

When upgrading a project from a previous version of LonMaker, OpenLNS CT might display this message: An unexpected error occurred. Please save your drawing and exit Visio/OpenLNS CT 

OpenLNS CT can not open projects with non English characters. The workaround is to use the Open Copy feature in your original LonMaker installation to change the network name to include only English characters.

If you don't have  the previous version of LonMaker available, contact our support team at www.echelon.com/support and send a backup of the original LonMaker project quoting this article.
