How Do Connections Work For A SmartServer IoT Power-Line Repeating Network (KB1428)

How SmartServer IoT Power-Line (PL) Repeating Connections work between source and destination:

  1. If you have a one-to-one connection:
    a. A peer-to-peer binding is created between the source and destination

    b. If a repeater is is NEEDED then a peer-to-peer connection is also created from the source to the SmartServer and the SmartServer will broadcast out the message.

    c. To overcome channel changes, the SmartServer LTE driver measures the connection attenuation between devices which has a peer-to-peer binding every 90 minutes and decide to add or remove the additional binding back to the SmartServer which is used to broadcast the message.

  2. If one-to-many or many-to-one binding then source connections are made to the SmartServer and the SmartServer will broadcast out the message.

  3. Re-provision and Re-Import of the con file with no changes can not be used to re-create the connections. If you want to re-create all the connections you will have to delete or change the connections and import the connection file again.

To delete connection, create a CON files with no connections and import that into the SmartServer CMS Device Type Widget.
