SmartServer Can't Communicate to LON devices or Receive Service Pin Messages (KB1433)

Always assign a Gateway IP address for SmartServer LAN or WAN ports that use Static IP addresses.

Also make sure you change the port types so that none of the WAN/LAN ports are using "Startup mode".

If you are using a static IP addresses for the SmartServer LAN or WAN ports make use you always assign the Gateway IP address.  Even if you don't actually have a gateway you should assign a dummy Gateway IP Address.

If  don't you may see one of the following problems:

1. SmartServer doesn't receive the service pin message for a LON device

2. You can't provision a LON device when manually adding the UID

3. The SmartServer can't communicate to the LON devices
