Adding points to the tree in stand alone mode.

I am logged into the Smart Server web page. It shows the address of the Smart Server in the tree with a + beside it but it won't expand. My goal is two create two points in the device. One point to monitor the Meter 1 pulse input and another point to that reads a value from the Modbus network. Documentation says I can create points directly in the tree but I can't open the Smart Server in the tree to do so. What's wrong?
