USB driver issue

Hope someone can help with this.

The OpenLDV drivers (v4 or v5) installs an old version of the FTDI drivers (2.08.x with the latest being 2.12.06) the issue I have is I have kit that requires the newer version of the driver but whenever the Echelon USB interface is plugged in it overwrites the newer driver as it believes the older driver is newer as it has a greater version number (version 4 in the inf file). Anyone any idea of a solution? I have tried overwriting the source files in the driverstore but then windows objects. Anyway to ask echelon to resign and reissue openldv with newer drivers?
